  • Job Summary

    This position is responsible for the underwriting of loans, providing timely and accurate evaluation of loan applications in accordance with investor, company and regulatory guidelines to ensure quality loans.

    Essential Functions

    • Complete thorough analyses of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor and regulatory guidelines
    • Evaluates credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans to ensure an investment quality loan product
    • Responsible for assessing the risk of a loan and communicating an approval/denial decision based on data quality in the loan file; communicate loan decisions to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing
    • Verifies accuracy of all calculations
    • Comply with established underwriting authority limit
    • Maintains company productivity levels and complies with designated turnaround times for underwriting of files
    • Partner with others in the organization to gather relevant information and communicate internal underwriting processes and procedures
    • Compiles and provides required reports to management as needed
    • Responds to reviews and audits in a timely manner
    • Ensure the correct information is entered and maintained in the loan origination system of record
    • Keep abreast of all company policies and procedures as well as federal and state regulatory changes as necessary
    • Other duties as assigned or required

     

    Job Requirements

    • High School diploma required
    • Minimum 5 years mortgage banking experience with solid working knowledge of current FNMA, FHLMC, FHA/VA/USDA underwriting guidelines, as well as familiarity with private investor guidelines
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels within the organization
    • Ability to demonstrate excellent detail orientation, critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Demonstrated judgment and decision making ability
    • Displays excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
