  • Job Summary

    • Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Loan Servicing Department and its staff by ensuring that all loans are serviced per the terms of signed agreements, providing high quality member service by clarifying issues and ensuring problem resolution
    • Additional responsibilities streamlining efficiencies relative to servicing loan operating systems and varied technologies and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state rules, regulations and laws, and that members are serviced in a proper and timely manner

    Essential Functions

    • Provide leadership and guidance to team of loan servicing professionals
    • Direct loan servicing activities; oversee timely tax payments to various counties and municipalities and strive to eliminate penalty fees; ensure loan processing is accurate; monitor insurance in force and escrow processing
    • Develop and monitor portfolio quality and performance metrics in order to identify areas of increased risk as well as opportunity for growth and revenue generation
    • Collaborate with other departments in order to ensure adherence to policies and procedures regarding loan maintenance, write-offs and modifications
    • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge regarding rules and regulations of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and regulatory agencies which pertain to the Mortgage Servicing Department; ensure the implementation of any required changes and ensure documentation is available for audit and compliance review
    • Plan staffing levels; work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, hire and employ an appropriate number of employees
    • Provide oversight and direction in the operating unit(s) in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures; delegate responsibilities appropriately expecting accountability
    • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
    • Lead employees to meet organization’s expectations for productivity, quality and goal accomplishment
    • Provide effective performance feedback
    • Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department
    • Develops, plans, implements, and ensures administration of departmental goals and budgets
    • Empowers supervisors/managers to plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals
    • Make strategic business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures
    • Review performance data to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness
    • Strategic partnering and communication with internal and external contacts (including senior leadership levels) as necessary to ensure expectations and timelines are met
    • Other duties as assigned or required


    Job Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in Business or related field required
    • Minimum 10 years proven and progressive mortgage servicing experience or equivalent, including awareness of industry trends, competitive pressures, changing business and operational needs and external influences required
    • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience required
    • Working knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and FHA/VA policies and guidelines, as well as, Regulatory Mortgage Compliance, state, federal, local government, private investors and insurers
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Excellent inter-personal, conflict management skills and the ability to handle delicate situations with diplomacy and tact
    • Excellent strategic thinking, business acumen, and accountability
    • Ability to establish direction, translate concepts into actionable, implementation plans and identify opportunities to improve productivity
    • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and strong detail orientation
    • Demonstrated judgment, and decision making ability with the ability to negotiate and influence decision making
    • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office suite
    • Displays excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
